The risk of an older person suffering from a fall in and around their home is high. The chance of a fall increases in the bathroom, particularly when you’re getting in and out of the bath or shower. We’ve taken this into consideration for our personal alarm service, which comes with a waterproof pendant.
The bathroom can be a dangerous and difficult place to navigate for an older person, especially if they have health problems such as arthritis or osteoporosis. The waterproof pendant gives you, and your family, peace of mind that you will be able to call for help if you have an accident.
Waterproof Pendant – The Features
Our waterproof pendant is the latest of its kind from UK Telecare manufacturer, Tunstall. It can be worn around the wrist or around the neck, depending on your own personal preference. Both attachments are included alongside the pendant.
Its waterproof functionality is an excellent feature, however we advise that you do not submerge your pendant in water for longer than 30 minutes. Other features include:
- 100 Metre Range – Your waterproof pendant can also be used outside in the garden (up to 100 metres).
- Long Battery Life – The pendant doesn’t need recharging and has a battery life of seven years. Our Response Team are notified when the battery is running low and will send a free replacement.
- Safe Frequency – The waterproof pendant uses the 869MHz European Social Alarm Frequency. This means that it will not interfere with any other medical equipment that you may have in your home.
How to Use Your Waterproof Pendant
If you do slip, fall, or feel ill whilst in the bathroom, you simply need to press the red button on your waterproof pendant. This will send an alarm call through to the Response Team, who will quickly respond via the base unit loudspeaker.
They will try to communicate with you to see what has happened. However, if your base unit is in another room and you cannot hear the Response Team, there is no need to panic. Our team will begin calling for your emergency contacts and explain that you’ve pressed your pendant and we haven’t had a response. Your emergency contacts would be asked to attend urgently.
If your emergency contacts were unavailable, our Response Team would then go on to call an ambulance and ask them to attend.
On occasion where you’re able to respond to our team, they will try to reassure you and will keep checking on your whilst you’re waiting for help to arrive. They have been highly-trained to deal with medical emergencies. Our Response Team is available 24/7, 365 days of the year.
