Emergency Contacts – Frequently Asked Questions

Posted on 13th January 2022

In order to give yourself and your loved ones peace of mind, it is essential to be prepared for emergency situations.  Everyone can recall the regular fire drill at work or school, or the safety demonstration before any airline flight.  Wherever there are hazards, there should be contingency plans.  Why should this preparation stop at home?  At LifeConnect24, we understand the benefits of peace of mind. This is why we ask for emergency contacts who can be called upon in your hour of need.

Who can I choose?

It is entirely your decision as to who you would like to be your emergency contacts.  One important thing to consider is whether the person(s) you are electing lives within reasonable distance of your home, so they can travel to you quickly if you need assistance.  We usually recommend choosing relatives, close friends, or neighbours.  For more information on how to choose your emergency contacts, read our detailed guide here.

How many Emergency Contacts can I choose?

The more, the merrier.  We generally prefer to have between 2 and 6 emergency contacts on file so that we can reach out to your network of family and friends as and when needed.  However, if we are unable to contact anyone from the list provided when you need assistance, we will call upon the emergency services to help you.  Equally, if you do not have any suitable emergency contacts, you can still benefit from a Lifeline alarm.  This means that nobody is excluded from our life-saving service.

What role will my Emergency Contacts have?

We will only get in touch with your emergency contacts when you need them.  By pressing your help button and speaking with our Emergency Response Team, we can determine what level of assistance you require and get in touch with your contacts to help you.

What if I don’t have any Emergency Contacts, or they are unable to assist me?

Do not worry.  Our life-saving service can accommodate those who live alone, especially those who are feeling vulnerable due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  If you don’t have any suitable emergency contacts, we can still help.  We can set up your account so that, on activation of your alarm, we can arrange for a first responder to arrive.  Above all, we want each of our customers to know that help is always at hand.

If you think that you or someone you know would benefit from one of our Lifeline personal alarms, why not give us a call toll-free on 1 800 937543. Our friendly customer service team will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The fall alarm sensors and detectors on all devices use an algorithm to recognise the difference between ‘hard’ falls and other movements. They cannot guarantee to detect all falls because it is dependent on where and how it is worn and if it can detect the fall. For this reason if you have had a fall or need assistance you should press your emergency pendant or alarm box if you are able.
